Frequently asked questions

Osteopathy in Rabat: FAQ

Clear answers to the most common questions before an osteopathy session.

When to book

Osteopathy can help with back and neck pain, muscle tension, some joint or posture-related discomfort, and sporting activity. The assessment during the session determines whether osteopathic care is appropriate.

What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a hands-on approach concerned with the mobility and function of the body as a whole. A session starts with a conversation and an assessment before any manual techniques adapted to the patient are used.

Why see an osteopath in Rabat?

You might consider a session for pain, discomfort, stiffness or restricted movement, as well as for prevention or to support your sporting activity.

Osteopath or physiotherapist: what is the difference?

A physiotherapist focuses mainly on rehabilitation and functional recovery. An osteopath carries out a hands-on assessment and looks for restricted movement and tension that may contribute to your discomfort. The two approaches can complement each other.

Is osteopathy a massage?

No. An osteopathy session is not a relaxation massage. It starts with a consultation and an assessment, then uses different manual techniques depending on the situation.

Does osteopathy involve cracking joints?

Not necessarily. Cracking is not required, and many techniques make no joint noise at all.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no set number for everyone. It depends on the reason for your visit, how long the problem has lasted and how it evolves.

Can I book without a referral?

A referral is not usually needed to book. The practitioner will still check that your situation falls within the scope of osteopathy.

When should I see a doctor rather than an osteopath?

Very severe or unusual pain, a significant injury, fever, fainting, loss of strength or sensation, or any worrying symptom call for medical advice first. Osteopathy does not replace medical diagnosis or treatment.

Can I come in after sport?

Yes. Osteopathy can support athletes with tension, stiffness, mobility or recovery, alongside medical or physiotherapy care when needed.

Can I come in during pregnancy?

Pregnant women can be seen for some aches linked to changes in the body and posture. Techniques are adapted to pregnancy and do not replace medical or obstetric care.
